The Health Mistake You Don’t Know You’re Making

With warmer weather finally coming, the desire to wear shorts and dresses is much higher. However, if you suffer from unsightly veins, you may be embarrassed to show off your legs. Many people simply ignore their bluish, bulging veins and attribute them to aging. Unfortunately, delaying treatment of varicose veins can lead to serious health complications.

For years, doctors have told their patients that they didn’t have to worry about unsightly veins. But new research findings suggest quite the opposite. In fact, those blue/green veins may actually require immediate treatment.

But why would medical professionals advise you not to take action? Well, that advice came from the 1950s, when treating unsightly veins was a painful and brutal procedure. So, doctors wanted people to avoid the procedure if they could. The good news is that throughout the years, treatment for varicose veins has come a long way. It’s not only much safer, it’s much more effective too.

Don’t delay varicose vein treatment

Researchers now know that a lack of treatment can lead to health complications. For example, varicose veins can cause complications in pregnant women. In one study, researchers found that pregnant women with varicose veins were more likely to be on bed rest prior to delivery due to heaviness, throbbing, and burning experienced in the legs.

Now the question is… when should you seek out treatment? There isn’t an exact answer to this, as it is up to the individual. However, the longer you wait, the worse your unsightly veins will get. You see, these veins worsen with gravity. The longer they persist, the more time gravity has to affect them.

On the other hand, treatment should be sought out immediately if a person experiences bleeding, ulcers, or if there is pain.

There are different treatment options to try, and speaking to your doctor about your options will help you better understand what treatment method will offer you the most relief.

As you can see, we have come a long way since the 1950s, where removing your unsightly veins was actually quite dangerous. Nowadays, it’s pretty easy to get rid of them so that you can rock the dress you’ve been dying to wear.
