Rosemary for hair loss

Rosemary is an aromatic herb that has been widely used in Mediterranean cuisine. It has a very pleasant flavorful smell and taste. Legend has it said that rosemary was draped around Greek goddess Aphrodite when she rose from the sea. The Virgin Mary spread her blue cloak over a white-blossomed rosemary bush when she was resting, and the flowers turned blue. Rosemary became known as the ‘Rose of Mary’.
The evergreen shrub is also known for its healing properties.
One of its most renowned properties is its ability to treat and fight hair loss. It contain phenolic anti-oxidant rosmarinic acid and volatile essential oils such as cineol, camphene, borneol, bornyl acetate to name a few.
These compounds are known to have anti-inflammatory, anti-fungal and antiseptic properties.
Here are some tips to stimulate hair growth with rosemary.

1. Daily shampooing:
– Adding rosemary to your shampoo regimen is very simple. All it takes is organic rosemary essential oil from a reputable source and your favorite organic shampoo.
Just add 2 drops of rosemary oil to every ounce of your shampoo or conditioner and apply as usual.
– You can also use the rosemary herb instead of the oil.

Directions on how to use:
Place about a quart of filtered water in a saucepan and bring the water to a boil.
Stir 1-2 handfuls of dried organic rosemary into the water.
Note: If you use fresh rosemary, double the amount you use because dried rosemary is more concentrated.
Turn off the heat and let rosemary steep into the water like tea for 5 hours
Pour the mixture into a dark glass jar and store in the fridge
Use the mixture to make shampoo by combining 1/4 cup of it with 1 cup of liquid unscented castile liquid soap.

2. Massage:
A daily massage with rosemary oil can help stimulate hair growth. Add two drops of rosemary oil to one ounce of organic coconut oil. Rub into scalp 3 minutes before showering.

3. Hot oil treatment (1-2 times a week):
A hot oil treatment once a week on your hair and scalp can fight hair loss.
Mix 3 tablespoons of coconut oil with 3 drops of rosemary essential oil
Mix the oils in a small glass jar and seal it
Place the jar in a bowl of hot water until the oil is warm
Massage the content of the entire jar onto your dry scalp with your fingertips for a few minutes
Make sure to get some of the oil on your hair until the ends
Wrap your hair in a warm damp towel
Replace with another warm towel when the first one has cooled
Let the oils sink in for 30-45 minutes
If you want to keep it overnight: sleep on a dry towel to absorb the oil
Then rinse and shampoo with an organic shampoo
Use conditioner if desired
