Gerber’s Lil’ Crunchies Contain 100% Monsanto’s GMO Corn

The major agrochemical companies of the world will tell you their products are safe until they’re blue in the face — but the reality of the situation is that there are countless major studies that say otherwise.

Most people are now familiar with the new cancer risk attached to glyphosate, the main ingredient in Monsanto’s Roundup.

But did you know that the American Academy of Pediatrics also released a warning in 2012 urging parents to reduce their kids’ exposure to pesticides?

Environmental pesticides are difficult to avoid, but luckily we can control what type of exposure our kids receive via diet.

Unfortunately for parents, even the “healthy” foods are actually a major health risk, as one deeply concerning test by the GMO Free USA organization revealed in 2015. And to make matters worse, their darkest secrets remain unlabeled.

 

Pesticides in Toddler Food are “Healthy?”

Because of the lack of labeling and transparency with GMOs in America, the group has begun testing various foods using donations from its community (click here to donate or learn more).

After finding a host of troublesome results testing Fruit Loops recently, the group has since moved on to a food aimed at even younger eaters: Gerber Graduates Lil’ Crunchies Veggie Dip Baked Whole Grain Corn Snacks.

With its wholesome appearance and the fact that it’s targeted for developing kids parents should reasonably expect these snacks to be a healthier choice, right?

 

Unfortunately, GMO Free USA tests found some troubling results. The following are quotes from their recent article:

We sent a package of Gerber Graduates Lil’ Crunchies Veggie Dip Baked Whole Grain Corn Snack to a certified lab to test for the presence of GMO material. The quantitative PCR test verified, by DNA analysis, that 100% of the corn in the Lil’ Crunchies Veggie Dip was GMO.

All of the corn has been genetically engineered to be herbicide tolerant (Roundup Ready) and the corn contained DNA sequences known to be present in Bt insecticide-producing GMO corn.

This type of corn has been linked in peer-reviewed studies to cause serious harm to lab animals.

Herbicide tolerant GMO corn has also been linked, in industry-independent peer-reviewed studies, to kidney and liver damage in laboratory animals (see this link for studies)

Bt (Bacillus thuringiensis) corn produces insecticidal toxins from inside every cell of the plant that can’t be washed off. The corn is registered with and regulated by the EPA.

The FDA, EPA, and USDA allowed the insecticidal GMO corn discovered in Lil’ Crunchies Veggie Dip to be commercialized without ever conducting human safety tests.

The article from GMO-Free USA went on to note that babies are more vulnerable to the harmful effects of these pesticides than adults because of their growing bodies.

This assertion is corroborated by a statement from the American Academy of Pediatrics that links early life exposure to pesticides with pediatric cancers, decreased cognitive function and behavioral problems.
